Packages...miniature Christmas in disguise!

Well, today is a dreary, windy day on the farm. Like I said before, now that the snow is gone...it's just well...yucky outside. Now that we've had rain and wind all day...the mud, well, I'm pretty sure it's going to a whole new level. We have this pretty little stream that runs through the bottom edge of the pasture. I can't wait for the days when we'll get to explore its shallow depths. I say shallow, but now...it doesn't appear too shallow. You usually can't see it from our family room windows; today you can! It is rushing merrily along as the rain keeps a'comin'. It is February, right?!
All that to say...we were in desperate need of a bright spot in our dreary little world. The first came in the form of our poor mail lady...drenched...knocking on our door. A package! Yep, we love packages around here; they are truly like a miniature Christmas. The kids (even Carson, it's hilarious!) all pile around the pool table (for those who have been to our house--you know that the pool table is rarely used for pool...usually its purpose is changing table...mail collector...junk holder) clamoring while I struggle to open the package with 3 little heads in my line of sight. This package was from Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop in Pennsylvania. A Valentines' Day package, of course...complete with yummy heart shaped sugar cookies tastily decorated...hmmm!!! :) cards for all, and clothes! So much fun! I love to see the kids chatter about what's going to be in the box and who it's from.
After lunch we received ANOTHER package...this one from the UPS guy---again, poor man, on a day like today. This one was an expected one as I had placed an order for some dresses for our girlie for school...and of course, a little something for me too! :) Again, even though they all knew it wasn't going to be good as the first package...we went through the whole routine again...3 wild monkeys...er, children climbing and clamoring to see what's inside.
I needed that excitement today. I'm frankly lacking motivation, and then on top of it I'm reading of others potty training success...well, it's just not going as smoothly here. Our Little Man is perfectly content to..."stew in his juices" as Sam says. Not even a "bribe" of the dreaded CHUCK E CHEESE for his birthday is working at this point. I know he will NOT be fifteen wearing pull ups, but sometimes...well, frankly I'm starting to wonder! :)

  1. You will get Little Man potty trained. I'm sure of it. I struggled with my Sierra, but I was given the best advice to wait until she was ready. Then, we jumped in with 2 feet, whole heartedly, and she ran around the house with only a shirt and socks on, scared she would tinkle on her legs! We laughed so hard! You can do it! Enjoy the Valentine goodies!
